The 2011 Holiday Indie Craftstravaganzaa will be held the first weekend of December, Saturday December 3rd, from 10am till 6pm. We plan to bring back our indoor Vintage Market as well as the clothing Swap-o-Rama-Rama with Gretchen Elsner, plus music, food and drinks from the Caledonia.

News from Craftstravaganzaa! 2011 Holiday Market + MORE!

Helllooooo Everyone!

It's been awhile, longer than we would have liked, but after working around a few issues, Craftstravaganzaa is back with not one but TWO exciting shows in the works!

First off, we are pleased to announce that we have been asked by Athens PopFest to curate an arts and crafts show for a special event they are having in conjunction with their music festival in October. We will join FLUKE! Comics Fest and the Secret Record Swap at the Classic Center on October 15th for a wonderful day of indie music and craft shopping. This will be our first indoor show, so it will be different from our outdoor shows, but it will have advantages for many of you, including a lower cost and easier set up (see details below). Also, it is going to put the Craftstravaganzaa name and our other events into the minds of a whole new group of folks through the POPFest and Classic Center promo materials, which will go out to over 12,000 people. There will be a limited number of tables, so we hope many of you will want to take advantage of this opportunity to do an unconventional show among a diverse group of like-minded folks.

To answer so many of the emails we have been getting, yes, we have a date for our Holiday Show!  It will take place on the first weekend of December, Saturday December 3rd. As many of you know, we have had some issues with Prestige Parking in the past over the use of the lot, but after looking at some alternatives and many discussions with various people, we are very happy to say that we will remain in our original location with all of its many advantages. We plan to bring back our indoor Vintage Market as well as the clothing Swap-o-Rama-Rama with Gretchen Elsner, plus music, food and drinks from the Caledonia. We just love that corner space, and know that many of you do as well, so we look forward to seeing lots of faces old and new for our Holiday market.

In other news, we have enlisted the help of someone who we think is going to be a great addition to our team, and her name is Lauren Benbrook. She will be answering emails and assisting with many aspects of running this show, including being present at events and giving input on future developments with Indie Craftstravaganzaa. We look forward to having her around and we know all of our vendors will appreciate this addition as well. So, welcome aboard Lauren!

Now for the details on these shows:

POPstravaganzaa (in conjunction with PopFest)

• takes place October 15th from 10am til 6pm at the Classic Center--set up from 8am to 10am
  
• you will be provided with 8 ft tables (no covering) for a fee of $45, application fee of $5
  
• you may share a table with 1 (one) other person
• you must stay for the duration of the entire event
• applications will be accepted through a different email please: popstravaganzaa@gmail.com. Payments must be made through paypal to this email address: athensindiecraftstravaganzaa@gmail.com. Payment will total $50.
  
• applications should include your name, email, business name, 3 jpegs of your work or a place where it can be viewed online
• deadline to apply is September 15th

Indie Craftstravaganzaa Holiday Market

• takes place Saturday December 3rd on the corner of Clayton & Pulaski Streets from 10am til 6pm, set up is 8am-10am
• nothing will be provided, booth spaces are 10ft by 10 ft and you are encouraged to bring a tent
• booth fee is $95.00, application fee is $15 for a total of $110
  
• you may share with up to 2 (two) other people for a total of 3 people per booth
• you must stay for the duration of the entire event
• applications will be available on our website very soon, and all instructions and stipulations will be included therein--we will make an announcement as soon as applications go up
  
• deadline to apply will be Monday October 24th

Shoppy Bag SCAM!

Hello Everyone
Just sending out a courtesy email to let you know that we have deleted our Shoppy Bag account and apologize if you have gotten pulled into this site through our email address. It seems that once someone you know signs up for this site it goes into your email and uses your contacts to claim there are tagged photos of you in order to get you to register--we have been bombarded with emails from them. You can also use a link in their emails to delete your account, which is my suggestion if you haven't already. I don't really understand the point of this site, but I really do not like the hijacking of contacts and misleading emails they send, so I am choosing not to participate. We never share our contact list with anyone, and I regret that this site has been able to use your emails to trick people into thinking we have tagged them in photos  and we support this site.

Athens Indie Craftstravaganzaa - Athens, GA

We enjoyed a fantastic turnout for our Spring event on Saturday May 7th! Sunny skies and a soft breeze complemented our outdoor market perfectly and kept people flowing throughout the entire day, browsing and buying from the best Athens has to offer in fine arts and crafts.


The Caledonia provided a space for folks to relax and enjoy lunch and cocktails on the patio before taking advantage of our newest features, the Swap-O-Rama-Rama, and the indoor Vintage Market at Craftstravangazaa! Both proved to be an assets that we will be welcoming back and developing for future events.

I took over 700 photos at the event, and am now working on culling, cropping, color correcting, labeling and getting them ready upload to  the galleries.

We are excited at the way Craftstravaganzaa continues to grow and collect new fans, and we hope to see you in the Fall!

Athens Indie Craftstravaganzaa is a bi-annual handmade market that brings an eclectic selection of emerging artists and crafters from the South and beyond. At Craftstravaganzaa you won't find any commercially produced or imported goods, only quality items handcrafted by the artists themselves. Expect fine arts and functional pieces, eco-chic fashions and innovative goods made with an eye towards sustainability.

This open-air marketplace event features tasties from local catering company sugarbeet pastry, lovely libations served at the Caledonia Lounge, and DJs to keep the shopping experience lively and fun.

This Spring, something new (and kinda old) at Craftstravaganzaa--we will have vintage vendors selling their one of a kind wares inside of the Caledonia Lounge.  The Vintage Market at Craftstravaganzaa has brought together a quality selection of clothing and home items that are at least 20+ yrs old, brought to you by folks who are in the business of picking out the gems from the junk. Dressing rooms will be provided, and you can enjoy drinks while you browse.

Also new this year, Athen's Indie Craftstravaganzaa and Gretchen Elsner have teamed up to bring Swap-O-Rama-Rama to Craftstravaganzaa! The Swap-O-Rama-Rama will be set up inside the Caledonia during our event. Swap-O-Rama-Rama is a clothing swap and series of do-it-yourself workshops in which a community explores creative reuse through the recycling of used clothing.  Bring a $3-5 donation and bag of clothes or notions, and yourself and let's make some what-not!

All ages welcome!
