Hello Everybody!

You've probably been wondering what we've been up to, and we've gotten a lot of inquiries about our next show, so first things first--yes, we are having a Holiday event, and it will be held on Saturday December 8th at Ben's Bikes.  Applications are up on our website now!

We here at Athens Indie Craftstravaganzaa are ready to unveil some big changes, starting with our name.  While we have enjoyed the last 5 years as Craftstravaganzaa, we've noticed that some folks have a hard time saying it...and spelling it...and when we began overhauling the look and feel of our website, we decided maybe it was time for a name change as well. From here on out, we are Indie South Fair, a Handmade Happening. 

And while the name change is big, the changes we're most excited about is the expanding our scope: though we have long been more than just a handmade marketplace, we want even more diversity of activities and participants--more musical performances and local eats, and lots more demonstrations and workshops. We want to reach out 

to the creative community and invite you to share not only your work but your techniques and skills with our attendees. We are also creating opportunities for art clubs and school programs to be a part of show, to encourage and showcase emerging talent.  We hope you'll spread the word about these new aspects of our show and maybe join in yourself!

Meet Craftstravaganzaa Artist - Janetics

Janetics 
Enthusiastic Pisces mom of 3 wife of 1. First generation American, born and raised in Rockville, Maryland, who blames all the good on genetics. Father, Carnival [Trinidadian] costume maker. Mother, the woman who brought his costumes to life. I am a sum of their talents. I am a mixed media artist who's upcycled jewelry bring good juju to you. Fused glass focals, used leather/ faux leather fabrics and simple wire wrapping create funky, one of a kind cuffs. This aesthetic translates into hair accessories, necklaces and rings. Wear out loud. I luv to slave away in the Den of Dopeness. Dance in my kitchen. Cook. Hula hoop. Watch Spongebob with our children.

 Justin Klocke is an MFA candidate at UGA's Lamar Dodd School of Art and finds inspiration in minimalism and folded paper forms. Klocke's jewelry crisp, smooth, clean, and at Craftstravaganza will include work that repurposes used brake and derailleur cables from his bicycles.

Meet Craftstravaganzaa Artist - Rhys May Jewelry

I am studying metals at UGA, and I love to create simple wearable jewelry based on organic forms.
I enjoy working with sterling silver, but this year I'll be creating some more affordable brass pieces as well!
All of my work is hand cut and soldered, and I even pour some of my own sheet and make my own wire.

I make quilts of all colors, shapes, and sizes.  I also make t-shirt quilts with your old shirts. Dotted Line is a collection of high-quality, hand made jewelry that includes wire wrapping and hammered metal design, semi-precious stones, and medallions and other lost treasures from Europe and the Middle East.  From Bordeaux to Jerusalem, Seattle artist Annie Huntley spends hours scavenging markets and antique shops in search of one-of-a-kind pendants and stones that tell a story. She has a particular fondness for religious icons and weaponry - vintage copper rifles, sterling Stars of David, and coins depicting the the Virgin Mary, are among her favorites.

Hi, I am Marisa Fortunato, creator of Of the Sea. As a native of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, I have always found myself inspired by the ocean and in my work I try to capture its beauty in whimsical ways. I create both jewelry and wall art and my pieces are meant to remind onlookers of that happiness that the sea evokes. My pictures are created from layers of hand-cut colored paper that merge together to create bright and peaceful scenes, simple and yet simultaneously full of depth and texture. I love working with colorful glass beads and wire to create jewelry, and my most popular pieces are leather bracelets featuring cheerful, metal fish beads. I hope my work brings the happiness and simplicity of life by the sea to you!

 Colors, textures, and forms found in the natural world inspire my work with clay, especially the contrasts of bright / neutral, rough / smooth, and rounded / flattened found in the landscapes of forests and coasts.  It is my belief that objects handmade with thoughfullness and care make our lives a little more special by reminding us of the beauty of the extraordinary world around us.  Tableware or freestanding sculpture, my intention is to bring some of the beauty of the natural environment into the home.

Meet Craftstravaganzaa Artist - Ann Shirley Collection

One man's garbage is my treasure. I make super funky and fashionable earrings out of bottle caps, and coke, fresca, pepsi, dr.pepper, sprite, peace tea, and monster cans. I also re-create old lamps, purses, windows, and furniture. I sew flowers and draw on lamp shades. Old, out of date purses are re-created into trendy bags. Windows frame fine art (my favorite subject is ballet dancers). Lastly I find fun objects such as dressers, jars, vases, and whatever I can find that looks appealing and I turn the old object into something remarkable!! My work is fun and fashionable!! Meet Craftstravaganzaa Artist - Monica's Bath and Body

I create all-natural, handmade bath and body products in my Atlanta

home. I use high quality vegetable oils, vegetable butters, beeswax,

herbs, and essential oils from organic, local, and sustainable sources

whenever possible. I will be featuring soap made with local Terrapin

beer, basil lemonade solid lotion, and DEET-free soap and body spray

to keep the bugs away! Other products include all-natural lip balms,

sugar scrubs, bath bombs, dusting powders and a large variety of

Meet Craftstravaganzaa Artist - Earthen Circles

With a variety of media, I hope to bring you vibrant and eclectic designs inspired by the world that we are so lucky to share. Using the glass as a canvas, I upcycle stem and glass ware. My jewelry consists of natural,transparent gem beads,freshwater pearls and lava with sterling silver finishings. I also paint useful,decorative linens. Some are upcycled.
